Cloudbreak Village Remediation
Fortescue’s Cloudbreak Village, part of the Chichester Hub in the Pilbara, provides accommodation and facilities for more than 1,800 workers supporting mining operations. To enhance personnel wellbeing and deliver consistent communication and entertainment services across its villages, Fortescue engaged R‑Group to upgrade Cloudbreak’s in‑room entertainment and connectivity platforms.
Working within tight project timeframes, R‑Group deployed its latest Android‑based IPTV and Smart TV solution across more than 1,800 rooms and common areas, while leveraging existing fibre infrastructure to reduce deployment costs. The solution was supported by full‑camp Wi‑Fi coverage, quality‑of‑service traffic management, and active monitoring to ensure reliability at scale. Following initial rollout challenges related to buffering and Wi‑Fi performance, R‑Group worked closely with Fortescue to rapidly identify and remediate issues.
Today, Cloudbreak personnel benefit from a high‑quality, reliable digital experience, including movies‑on‑demand, live TV, personal casting, information channels and emergency broadcasts. Fortescue also gains direct visibility and control through remote monitoring and management tools, backed by 24/7 managed services support. The result is a cost‑effective, scalable and resilient entertainment and connectivity platform that supports workforce engagement, wellbeing and operational efficiency across the village.
