We are hiring a Unified Communications (UC) Engineer

About the business and the role

Are you a competent Unified Communications Engineer with a great personality?  This full time role will suit someone who is very confident in the deployment, management, troubleshooting and support of Skype for Business voice systems, as well as a well-rounded IT skillset.

We provide a range of ICT services including Managed Services, Communications, Remote Backups and Project Services to corporate clients in a wide range of industries and locations across Australia. We have recently won significant contracts with Victorian Government and enterprise clients and as a result are looking to build up a technical presence in Melbourne. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to work well independently, but also interface with our established teams in other cities.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Provide technical engagement across the entire customer Unified Communications lifecycle, including:

  • Collaborating in the implementation, optimisation and maintenance of Skype for Business deployments
  • Performing UC and IT troubleshooting, including acting as an escalation point for junior engineers
  • Assisting sales team with Unified Communications opportunities, including customer meetings and solution design
  • Customer support on-site or via phone/email as required
  • Working with the Engineering, Project and Service Management teams to enhance overall solution offerings and develop new products.

 

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Proven experience working with Skype for Business and/or Microsoft Lync
  • Strong understanding of VoIP technologies
  • Understanding of traditional telephony systems
  • Confidence with Microsoft and Linux operating environments
  • Capacity to work quickly and efficiently on sometimes critical deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – including designs and documentation
  • Cisco/Huawei and/or other related networking qualifications will be  considered highly
  • A current National Police Certificate will be required
  • A positive, team focused attitude with a sense of humour is essential
